ABOUT |

My grandparents had a picture of Ponte della Maddalena in their basement - colloquially called The Devil's Bridge - from the village in Italy my great-grandparents were from. I always imagined getting to go there, to see it in person, to run across its three arches. When my husband and I made the trip in 2018, seven years after both of my grandparents had passed away, he yelled as it came into view. I said "Nah, that's not it. It doesn't have that high of an arch."
...It sure does.
I had never bothered to look it up online - I had such a cemented picture in my brain already and knew everything about it from what my grandfather had told me. Turns out the photo in their basement was just from a different perspective. Walking across those three arches was a far more difficult climb than little Steph ever could have imagined.
The dreams we hold on to from our childhood always seem to be more difficult from an adult perspective, but I think there's something magical in content creation that allows us to recapture that sense of possibility and hope. In everything I create I try to cultivate the feelings of excitement and fearlessness that made me dive head first into anything and everything when I was younger, while also working to bring a more organized and accessible perspective to them.
