In the summer of 2022 I decided to pursue a certificate in UX Design through Coursera. I have been developing the principles and foundations of UX Design for the past decade of designing content for theatre, podcasts, and streams, but wanted formal and advanced training.
The more I learned, the more I wanted to keep learning.
Between July and August I completed all seven rigorous courses covering Foundations of UX Design, Conducting UX Research, Building Wireframes, Low-Fidelity and High-Fidelity Prototypes, Conducting Usability Studies, and Creating Responsive Web Design. I completed two case studies (both outlined below), seeing a design from concept through High-Fidelity App and Responsive Website Design Prototypes. Since
obtaining the certificate I have kept working in Figma and Adobe XD to further my comfort and practical skills in each program.

Case Study: UX Design Certificate Portfolio Project:
Shakespeare Education App Design

For this Design for Social Good project in Google's Certificate Program, I focused on the need for boosting engagement with Classic Literature in schools. Having been a high school teacher, I understand the user pain points intimately. Talking with educators during research, I was able to center the design around clarity in the booking process, where many other Shakespeare companies have that information as just a subset of their regular offerings.

Additionally, I created a responsive website design for three different screen sizes, focusing on remaining consistent in brand but also using available space in different ways. The main feature of this website is the booking tool to bring Shakespeare performances into schools, so that remained the central highlight of each design.

Case Study: UX Design Certificate Portfolio Project:
Wedding Ceremony Timeline App

This was my first design project in Google's UX Design Certification program, and I was so excited to see that one of the generated prompts was focused on a wedding ceremony app, since I just got married this year and have several friends planning weddings. I was able to draw on my own experience as well as theirs to design an app that would be organized, clear, and offer several time-saving features. The feature I focused on for a prototype user flow was creating a timeline for the ceremony based off several template options.
